Each month we’ll be interviewing a different member so that you can hear their side of the story. For our October 2024 edition, you get to meet Gordon Hawley, who lives in Charlottesville, Virginia. Read on to find out what he had to say.
TopCashback: For how many years have you been a member of TopCashback? What made you decide to join?
Gordon: I've been a member since September 2017. At the time, I was using another Cash Back portal and having a lot of issues with purchases tracking correctly. So, I thought I would give another site a try.
TopCashback: How did you find out about us?
Gordon: I saw you mentioned and recommended on Doctor of Credit.
TopCashback: What do you typically like to use your Cash Back earnings for? Do you prefer to spend your earnings right away or save them up?
Gordon: It's a little bit of extra spending money. I don't really have a specific goal in mind. I always like to save up at least $20 or $30 before cashing out, although two years ago I had close to $100, which I had saved and used to pay for a seat upgrade on a flight to Europe to see my parents.
TopCashback: What are some of your favorite retailers to shop at through TopCashback? What do you like to shop for?
Gordon: Some favorites are eBay, Walgreens and the gift cards that TopCashback sells directly. Typically from eBay I'll get a few random household items such as socks or slippers. Perhaps a pair of pants or a shirt. For the gift cards I've mostly been buying Barnes & Noble (on the bonus days this helps to offset some of the shipping cost) and Target.
TopCashback: How has being a member of TopCashback made a positive impact?
Gordon: Being able to earn some extra money on purchases I would have made anyway. Clicking through your site rather than going directly to the retailer doesn't add much effort but the result can be quite worthwhile.
TopCashback: What is your favorite thing about TopCashback (in addition to the Cash Back)?
Gordon: Being part of a community of people that are looking for different ways to save money. The bonus days are always great as you get to earn a little extra in addition to the regular Cash Back.
TopCashback: Any memorable TopCashback moments?
Gordon: Several years ago, I was a runner-up in one of your competitions which involved printing a picture of Harry the Hummingbird and taking a photo of him somewhere unique. It was nice to be recognized as having one of the more popular entries. Also, the small prize didn't hurt. It went toward the purchase of a toaster oven, which I'm still using almost every day.
