When you’re not busy shopping the best deals and offers on the internet, catch up with your favorite cash back site in the news!
TopCashback has been making headlines for its expert savings tips for a long time, and now members like you can read all about them here. This latest edition of our In the News series features only a handful of the amazing coverage we’ve received in January, so keep your eyes peeled for additional TopCashback mentions across national and local publications.
Apartment Therapy asked TopCashback’s consumer expert Rebecca Gramuglia how people can start off on the right financial foot in 2023. Her answer? “Do your best to plan your purchases in advance.”
She added, “If you’re planning to buy something at a specific store, keep track of their ‘sales cycle’ to determine when you may find the best deals.”
You can also tack on coupons and use a rewards credit card to “get cash back, points or miles when you shop.”
It’s true what they say: small goals can lead to big results. And according to POPSUGAR, one of the “microlutions” everyone should be trying in 2023 is saving money. It suggested setting up a cash back account with us (!) so you can make a percentage of your money back whenever you shop online.
GOBankingRates reached out to Rebecca to find out which new Dollar Tree items we should all be looking out for this year. Floating corner shelves, 2023 calendars and rubbing alcohol made the cut, as did collectible plushies and Crayola’s Silly Scents Dough.
She also compared prices with Dollar Tree’s biggest competitors.
“Dollar Tree is offering 15x7x2-inch corner wall shelves for $5 each, while Five Below offers a comparable product for $5.55 each,” she shared. “Shopping at Dollar Tree, in this case, will help you save 55 cents—and those savings add up if you’re planning to buy multiple units.”
Rebecca had plenty of Costco tips for Yahoo! readers last month, including buying diapers and personal care items in bulk.
“If you have your tried-and-true products, look to see if places like Costco offer larger sizes that you may not be able to find at the drugstore,” she said, noting that a two-pack of Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser costs $17.99. By comparison, Target charges $14.49 for one same-sized bottle.
Business Insider published an essay by writer Katherine Fan, which details how she made $3,000 in the last 10 years just by using cash back sites, travel rewards and rewards credit cards. (Guess what! She’s a TopCashback fan.)
“I just recently cashed out some of my TopCashback earnings into a $600 Hotels.com gift card at a 5% bonus rate, which means I received $1.05 Hotels.com credit per dollar that I had earned through TopCashback,” she wrote. “That gift card will make a really nice wedding gift for some loved ones to use toward their honeymoon, and it didn’t cost me a dime more than I had already spent on other purchases.”
South Dakotans were able to see Rebecca on their TVs last month when she appeared on News Center 1 for National Use Your Gift Card Day. Learn how to take advantage of any unused gift cards you may have by watching her segment in the link above.
Rebecca graced Oklahomans’ screens when she was interviewed by News On 6 about saving money on summer concert tickets and festival passes. Click the video link to find out what she recommended.
TheStreet spoke with Rebecca for her money-slashing tips when it comes to grocery shopping. First of all, “analyze the cost per unit and see if it’s worth buying large quantities that you will actually use,” she said.
And second, “if you need items like foil, paper products, sponges and more, purchase these products at places like dollar stores to save more,” she advised.
